Gahhh! It’s Monet. In action. Need I say more?
I suppose not, but I will anyway. It’s almost mesmerizing, watching Monet glance up so frequently from his painting. Back and forth, back and forth…moving around the canvas. He holds his long brush near the far end, not choked up for better control. The angle of the video does not show the brush strokes themselves, but the movements of his arm and brush tell us they are not the tiny, perfectionistic dabs from his earlier days. This mature Monet works quickly with stokes and smears to interpret his sensations of Nature. He never loses focus, despite the changing of paint and placement, and scene. Never drops ashes into the paint (well, in this video, anyway). Oh, and that white jacket is quite becoming.
